Milk Digital: A New Age of Milk

Return to Gazette

Y2K officially turned 25 years old two months ago as of this writing and since then the world has changed their taste in music, fashion, and arts in what feels like a million times over. Yet there was a certain charm that came with the art associated with that era with its bright colors, 3D renders, and what feels like an overall more hopeful tone for the (previously) upcoming millennium.

Today we have the opportunity to talk to an artist who is bringing back just that! Milk Digital combines all the retro tones you love while experimenting with many different genres making for a gallery where you won’t know what will come next, but you’ll want more of it all the same.

Tell us about yourself! Who are you and how would you describe your work?

I’m a 22 year old artist based in Los Angeles California, I’ve experimented with many forms of art creation like figures, 2D and 3D animation, painting etc. I would describe my art as very vibrant, happy and nostalgic and also very true and meaningful to me. I put a lot of things from my personal life into my videos such as my siblings’ voices and best friends’ music.

You have a variety of multi-media art, what’s inspired you to explore all these different mediums? Any drives?

Usually if I can’t get the creative juices flowing I will switch programs or something more physical like graffiti or clothing aside from blender or photoshop. Graffiti has been super fun lately and being from LA there’s a huge scene for it which is cool because people see it on their daily commute to work.

What’s your process like when you’re making art?

For animation I usually have to be alone for the most part in a dark room, maybe a coffee who knows but I feel like late night is when my mind just goes ham on ideas I assume that most artists could probably relate to this.

Do you have any inspirations when making your art? If so, why do they inspire you? Any connections with them?

Definitely making this my full-time job inspires me to go harder and finish things, art brings an unexplainable amount of fulfillment in my life. I have big dreams, and I feel like they are coming true slowly but surely. People owning my work makes my mondays and random moments of sadness much brighter.

What’s your favorite piece you’ve made or one that you’d love to talk about?

I did an 8-bit stop motion video titled Milk Clouds on Instagram. My friend David made the song I have a poster of it in my room too. It took so long to make the frames, and it is by far my favorite creation it really captures the milkyness of my work haha.

Do you have any future plans you’d like to share with people?

Yes I have so much more to make from clothing to videos and random items for your car or room. I am planning a short film series type thing to give my characters more lore and life so I will definitely promote that and put my all into it. 100% more focus on toys that is by far my favorite item i’ve made ever it’s so cool to me.

Is there anything you’d like to talk about when it comes to your art?

Thanks for enjoying my art, thanks for this opportunity and if you’re a supporter of my work I really appreciate it my art is what keeps me going and wanting to still exist.
